- What ages do you serve?
- We currently offer part-time pre-k for students ages 3-5. Our mobile classroom is for children who are age 5 and do not turn 6 before October 1 of the following year.
- What are the admission requirements for forest school?
- Students should be able to use the restroom primarily on their own. This means students should be aware of when they need use the restroom and be able to ask an adult to guide them to the restroom, open and close the door for them, and assist them with handwashing if required.
- Students should be able to put on clothing layers and shoes with little assistance.
- Students must be able to follow adult instruction.
- Students should enjoy being outdoors. While we love being outside, some children do not and that’s OK. If we find a student simply does not enjoy being outdoors (we haven’t found one yet) we will discuss other options with parents.
- What hours do students attend forest school?
- Classes currently run Monday-Thursday. Drop off is at 9:00 AM and pick up is at 2:00 PM.
- How many days per week can my child attend?
- Pre-k families choose M/W or T/Th. Our mobile classroom runs M-Th.
- Do students ever go inside?
- Yes! While we like to keep students outside as much as possible, we have a cozy, all weather, indoor space when we need it.
- What is a typical day like?
- After drop off, students gather for a discussion to see where each child is at and what inquiries arise. If it is not a field trip day, students will gather their gear and head to the outdoor classroom area. Snack will be shared and we will engage in a story to prompt some new thinking and then children are allowed to head out and engage in forest activities either in a group or alone if desired. Different activities and/or loose part stations will also be set up for children who desire a little more structure. This time is followed by lunch and quiet time where students can look at books, reflect or rest in hammocks while enjoying some music. Afterwards, many children desire to return to their forest play or engage in additional learning activities and inquiries.
- What do students learn at forest school?
- Our primary focus is fostering a love of learning through self-direction, building confidence through appropriate risk taking, building motor skills necessary for grade level readiness, and harnessing socio-emotional skills for a lifetime of success.
- Can my student attend 4 days per week?
- We currently only offer two days per week for our students. An outdoor environment is much more stimulating and the day in between allows children to process new information and strengthen neural pathways.
- Do students use electronics?
- We do not use any electronics in our pre-k classrooms. Our mobile classroom students may watch a short, informational segment on a topic to enhance understanding. We also encourage families to limit device time at home. This article will give you an insight into the impacts of electronics on child development.
- Do you participate in Colorado Universal Preschool program?
- We have not enrolled in UPK.
- What is the Mobile Classroom?
- AdventureMe’s Mobile Classroom is a pilot enrichment program for children of kindergarten age. This program will operate out of previously selected locations that enhance learning and community development while integrating core subjects.
